Ng Kok Song’s fiancee – who is Sybil Lau?
Former GIC chief investment officer, and a person who has been involved in public service for 45 years, NG Kog Song is no new name for us.
He is a prominent figure in Singapore’s financial sector and is independently running for 3rd presidential election.
Song joined GIC in 1986, and retired in 2013, after 27 years of service.
But we are not talking about him and his work here today, we are more into his personal life and relationship status.
It is true that he has a fiancee 30 years younger than him, but who is she really?

Canada’s leading outpatient clinic operator, WELL Health Technologies Corp has a well-experienced director, Sybil Lau.
Ms. Sybil Lau is a Canada-born philanthropist and businesswoman.
45-year-old magnate, as per her LinkedIn profile, and has been working since 2009.

Before starting to manage her family businesses, Sybil attended and graduated from Simon Fraser University, and has work experience as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs.
Her LinkedIn profile speaks a lot – chairman of her family’s wealth management, board member of Ray Dalio’s family office, and also serving the board of SG Enable.
Ms Lau is also a philanthropist, and actively advises large Asian offices on such endeavors.
How Sybil and Ng Kok met?
In an exclusive interview with CNA, Sybil, and Ng Kok revealed how they met and what made both of them step up into a relationship.
Sybil shared a story about how a mutual friend introduced both of them. Both were not looking for a relationship, and both had a good impression of family values.
Sybil says,
“I was amazed when he was telling me that he was so lucky to have met his late wife Patricia. She had cancer and found it out much later. And that he took one year off work to take care of her.”
She continued:
“I found that incredibly moving because here is a man who put his family first.”

Ng Kok and Sybil have 30 years of age gap, as Song is 75 and Lau is 45.

While such an age gap may raise eyebrows, their relationship is mutual and both understand each other.
Ng Kok and Sybil felt a connection between them and stepped up.
His previous wife, Patricia, passed away in 2005 leaving three children behind. And guess what, the couple has already received blessings from them.
Announced their engagement
Sybil and Ng Kok announced their engagement a little earlier, but it was postponed.
When the couple was planning the ring day, Sybil’s mother passed away in 2021.
And according to Chinese customs, their engagement was postponed for three years.
Sybil and Ng Kok have known each other for four years and more; and the decision to get engaged marks a significant milestone for both of them.
