7 Little Johnstons: Who is Amber?
Amber Johnston must be synonymous with TLC’s famous show 7 Little Johnstons, given she is the matriarch of the Johnstons family.
An epitome of a loving and strong mom, Amber has short-limb dwarfism known as achondroplasia, a common condition she shares with her husband and five children.
Together, they make the most prominent family of achondroplasia dwarfs and one of the most watched families in the reality show business.
And while stories of each member of the Johnstons household, including Amber, are public knowledge — thanks to the show — there are more things to know about them from behind the screen.
So here’s everything you have to know about Amber.
Amber was born on March 10, 1979. She is at the age of 43 as of this time of writing.

It’s a no-brainer that Amber has been married to Trent Johnston. The couple tied the knot in November 1998 and has remained strong since then.
But the exciting thing here is how they got married or even met.
According to The Cinemaholic, Amber first met her future husband at a Little People of America convention, which organizes meet-ups for little people.
They were just teenagers going to high school at the time. But their first meeting proved vital for what lay ahead, as it was enough for them to fall in love.
“And I saw a beautiful young man with a funny personality,” Amber recalled their first meeting with the news outlet.
Following the spark came their long-distance relationship, which they maintained until Amber moved in with her partner.
Then in November of 1988, they finally got hitched in the presence of over 250 family and friends.
Amber has a total of five kids and all with her husband, Trent. But not all of them are their biological children — three of them are adopted.
The married couple welcomed their first biological child, son Jonah, on December 1, 1999, five months after their wedding.
Two years later, Amber got pregnant with their second child. Along with the happiness came severe complications. So much so that her hips routinely dislocated, and she measured 48 inches tall and 51 inches around at one point.

Despite the severities, Amber gave birth to the child, daughter Elizabeth, on December 7, 2001. But the complications and the needed “tubal ligation surgery” forbid her from getting pregnant again.
That is when she and her husband turned to adoption to enlarge their family. They adopted their daughters Anna and Emma from Russia and China, respectively, and a son Alex from Korea.
All the kids have achondroplasia and intendedly so. Amber and her partner wanted to provide a family to those “in need of homes.”
“Trent and I were fortunate enough to be able to provide for them. We knew we didn’t need to give birth to these children to take them into our hearts,” Amber told of her children to Mirror.
