Take a look at Mark Mangino’s over 100-pound weight loss journey, diet plan, and workout program.

If you are a football fan, you likely remember Mark Mangino from his time as Kansas’ head coach.

In 2007, Mangino led the Kansas team to a 12-1 Orange Bowl championship.

He was known as the blubbery bully who went so far with his mistreatment of players that he lost his job in 2009.

Mangino had his homecoming after he accepted Youngstown State coach Eric Wolford’s offer to join his staff in 2013.

He served as the Assistant Head Coach and Tight Ends Coach for a season and then joined Iowa State in January 2014.

However, he was relieved of his position on 26 October 2015.

When Mangino made his comeback in 2013, he shocked everyone with his skinnier look.

Still, many people are curious about Mark Mangino’s dramatic weight loss from his peak weight.

It’s easy to guess that the former head football coach at the University of Kansas has lost a significant amount of weight.

So, what precisely are Mangino’s weight-loss, diet plan, and workout routine?

We’ve got all the information you need down below.

Mark Mangino’s dramatic weight loss

With just a peek at Mark’s before and after photos, one can easily deduce that he’s lost a significant amount of weight.

In an interview, the former football coach discussed his motivation for losing weight. He said:

“During the time I was off I got a chance to spend time with the grandkids. It was so much fun being around them, and I got to thinking about a year or so ago, ‘If I don’t do something, am I going to see them get their first Holy Communion, am I going to see them graduate high school, go to college? Am I going to be able to hang in there and see them get married?'”

Mangino continued:

“I thought about it and I said, ‘The chances are that I might not.'”

Back in 2013, he didn’t sport the droopy skin of someone who has lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time.

In comparison to his days as the Kansas coach, he appeared like a mini-Mangino.

Mangino said:

“It’s hard for a guy like me, but I decided I was going to change my lifestyle, get more exercise, just change everything, make a drastic, drastic change in the way I looked at things.”

“And so far it’s been good. I’m getting my exercise. During two-a-days, it’s tough to exercise, but I get a little walk and I get my exercise out here (during practice).”

How did he lose weight?

Mangino gained a lot of weight when he departed Bill Snyder’s Kansas State staff for Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma staff.

He moved ahead of the family and missed home cuisine, so it was no surprise when he named the person who had the most influence over his conditioning efforts during the previous year.

The former head coach said:

“Mary Jane’s been very good about preparing what I should eat and how much to eat.”

And Mangino felt obligated to take action.

When he learned that his wife was ill, he realized that their grandchildren would be without grandparents if something happened to her or him.

He realized that he would be able to take better care of them if he took better care of himself.

In late 2013, when the interviewer asked how much he had lost from his peak weight, Mangino disclosed that he was down 127 pounds. He said:

“I don’t know my peak weight, maybe it was because I didn’t want to face it. I started working out, watching what I was eating and doing different things probably six, eight weeks before I ever checked my weight.”

“I can tell you that having weighed in the 28th or 29th of August, I was down 127 pounds (from about a year ago).”

Mark Mangino is, without a doubt, a great motivation for anyone who wants to lose weight.
