Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine, and that’s the truth!

There were several events during Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darlings” premiere at the Venice Film Festival 2022, but one of them left the online community perplexed.

Following the world premiere, social media erupted into a frenzy. A viral video clip on social media purports to show Harry Styles spitting on Pine as he sits down at the premiere on Monday night. However, the recordings could not verify the incident with absolute certainty.

A source close to Styles reportedly told the Guardian: “This is not true.”

“This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”

According to a source close to the Venice Film Festival, there was no hostility between the two during the premiere. No one raised the possibility of spitting during the occasion. Later, Pine’s representative issued the statement.

Besides this, the “Don’t Worry Darling” press tour has been beset by rumours of an alleged falling out between director Olivia Wilde and lead star Florence Pugh for weeks.

The rumours started after the screening concluded, and the two did not embrace or even glance at one other. They also did not pose together on the Venice red carpet.

But the rumours were no way near the truth. Clearing things in the air, Wilde said,

“Florence is a force. We are so grateful she’s able to make it tonight [for the red carpet] despite being in production on ‘Dune.’ I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her, and to [‘Dune’ director] Denis Villeneuve for helping us. And we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing.”

“As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, the Internet feeds itself,” added Wilde. “I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think it’s sufficiently well-nourished.”
