Kataluna drew a lot of attention and appreciation for becoming the first trans-woman to win Miss USA Nevada.
People want to know more about the beauty queen, her background, and details about her gender affirmation surgery.
Kataluna was born in a body she didn’t feel she belonged in. She always knew she wasn’t destined to be what others expected her to be.
Enriquez’s inner lady screamed to be let out, and she had a difficult upbringing trying to fit in with the likes of others while hiding behind a mask.
In an interview with Review-Journal, Kataluna said:
“I grew up very uncomfortable; I grew up being told, ‘No, you shouldn’t be doing this,’ when it felt natural for me. For a long time, I had to hide that and fight away that feeling of who I am.”

She continued:
“It really affected my struggle with my mental health, being constantly shamed, being put down, being attacked, being bullied to the point where I was just tired. I was tired of trying to live up to an expectation that didn’t necessarily fit me and didn’t serve me — and if anything, almost killed me.”
Kataluna grew up in a difficult household. Her parents abandoned her and her siblings in the Philippines for years before relocating the entire family to San Francisco.
Kataluna felt the lack of representation of her sort in the mainstream media as a whole new world opened up for her. It wasn’t until she saw transgender dancer Leiomy Maldonado in season four of America’s Best Dance Crew that she realized what she was missing out on.
Young Kataluna was inspired by her kind’s ability to shine in the spotlight without fear of being judged by society.
The Miss Nevada USA 2021 said:
“I was cheering for her, and I was happy for her. It gave me a glimpse, where, maybe the future could be like this. Maybe we could have a future where everyone is open-minded, where you can feel free to just express yourself without feeling or thinking, ‘When’s the next time you’ll be attacked.’ When I was young, I always wanted to be someone like that.”
Kataluna began transitioning slowly in high school, mid-freshman year. She began with clothing before undergoing plastic surgery.
Simple baby steps allowed her to reconnect with her femininity and learn more about herself.
Kataluna’s plastic surgery transformation spiritually benefited in raising her confidence and accepting her true self without fear, as she re-learned who she is, what comforts her, and how she will present herself to the world.
The trans beauty pageant eventually had her gender affirmation or sex reassignment surgery after graduation.
Before undergoing plastic surgery to complete the transition process, she first started with hormone (estrogen) therapy and supportive counseling.

Beginning with her face, facial feminization surgery (FFS) helped her achieve a softer, more feminine appearance to her facial features.
Some of the procedures that she did on her face include scalp advancement, brow lift with bossing, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, lip and cheek implants, and face/neck lift.
In addition to an FFS surgery, Kataluna also had breast augmentation, trunk liposuction, buttocks augmentation, and gender confirmation surgery.
As part of GCS surgery, Kataluna went through a “penile inversion” procedure for the reconstruction of the vagina and labia.
