read comments (0)VH1 said Tuesday it has ordered a second season of the U.S. reality series “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”
The show, which stars Dr. Drew Pinsky, is to premiere in October and will consist of eight one-hour episodes, the network said.
Like the first season, the new episodes will show celebrity patients as they undergo detoxification and treatment at a center in the Los Angeles area.
The series will follow “Grease” and “Taxi” star Jeff Conaway as he checks into rehab after several back surgeries, setbacks and a subsequent reliance on pain medications.
Also slated for the show are reality TV star Sean Stewart, model/actress Amber Smith, Los Angeles taxi driver-turned-media figure Rodney King, former “American idol” contestant Nikki McKibbon, rocker Steven Adler and actress Tawny Kitaen.
Gary Busey, who is 13 years sober from his cocaine addiction, is also expected to share his experiences with the recovery process.
“Dr. Drew is a powerful, positive force for those seeking recovery and I am quite simply amazed not only by the quality of his medical care, but for how much Drew and his team truly care about the people they are treating,” VH1’s Jeff Olde said in a statement.
Former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra was a no show at VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew reunion special taping, David Drew “Dr. Drew” Pinsky told The New York Post in a Wednesday report.
Actor Daniel Baldwin — who quit the 21-day round-the-clock program after asking to see naked photos of porn star and fellow participant Mary Carey — was the only other Celebrity Rehab subject to not partake in the reunion show, Pinsky told The Post.
Six of the show’s participants — two-time The Surreal Life housemate and former Strange Love star Brigitte Nielsen; former WWE wrestler and The Surreal Life fourth-season housemate Joan “Chyna” Laurer; former Family Matters actress Jaimmee Foxworth; Crazy Town frontman Seth “Shifty” Binzer; Carey; and mixed-martial arts star Ricco “Suave” Rodriguez — agreed to participate in Celebrity Rehab’s reunion, according to Pinsky.
Celebrity Rehab’s reunion show will air Thursday, March 13 at 10PM ET/PT.

“American Idol” finalist Jessica Sierra has been sentenced in Florida to 12 months probation for possessing cocaine and throwing a glass at a bar patron.
Circuit Judge Gregory Holder also ordered Sierra, 22, to submit to random drug screening, The Tampa Tribune reported Tuesday.
Sierra, whose rehabilitation experience has been captured on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” pleaded no contest to the drug charge and to felony battery.
She also must complete her drug-rehab after-care program, pay restitution to the person she hit above the eye with a bar glass and seek permission from her probation officer before traveling, the Tribune said.
The criminal charges will remain on Sierra’s record, but she will not be considered a convicted felon if she completes her sentence without incident.
“Celebrity Rehab” is slated to premiere Jan. 10
